½ cup soft non-hydrogenated margarine
 1 cup packed brown sugar
 1 egg
 ½ cup milk
 1 tsp vanilla
 1 cup whole wheat flour
 1 tsp baking powder
 ½ tsp baking soda
 2 tsp cinnamon
 1 ¼ cups rolled oats
 ¼ cup wheat germ
 1 ½ cups raisin or dried apricots, cranberries, or dates

In a large mixing bowl combine margarine, sugar, and egg; beat well.

Beat in milk and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, oats, wheat germ, and fruit; mix well.

Drop batter a small spoonful at a time onto non-stick baking sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

Makes about 50 small cookies, each with 58 calories, 2 grams fat, 4 mg cholesterol, 38 mg sodium, 10 grams carbohydrate, 1 gram fiber, 1 gram protein.
